Surgical Information Systems Selected by Ardent Health Services

May 13, 2008

ATLANTA – Ardent Health Services has chosen to partner with Surgical Information Systems (SIS) for the implementation of the SIS perioperative system in operating rooms throughout its New Mexico and Oklahoma facilities, including Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa and Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque.

The success of the perioperative system at Lovelace Medical Center, an existing SIS client, played a role in Ardent’s decision to expand the partnership to additional facilities.  Once implemented, the SIS Essential Solution will help Ardent’s family of hospitals ensure effective and accurate scheduling of resources through the AHA-endorsed SIS Surgical Scheduling, and will help to streamline patient flow and safety improvements, provide retrievable and organized information, and assist in quality care initiatives.

“We’ve been impressed with SIS,” said Mark Gilliam, CIO of Ardent Health Services.  “It has improved efficiency in the OR suite and has been well-received by our clinicians and care providers.  We’ve found SIS to be well-suited for our strategy of enterprise solutions.  We’re looking forward to expanding its abilities to our other hospitals in Albuquerque and in Tulsa.”

Surgical Information Systems’ CEO Ed Daihl said that the SIS single database solution is ideal for health systems looking to implement a standard clinical application throughout multiple facilities.

“SIS provides health system decision makers with a comprehensive, real-time view of the clinical and financial performance of surgery departments throughout multiple sites,” said Daihl.  “Furthermore, we are interface and integration experts in the perioperative space – our system integrates easily in each facility, providing improved efficiency and enabling a consistently high quality of surgical care.”
